How long your aluminium windows will last depends on their quality. They should last 20 -30 years at least, but have been known to stay in good condition for up to 45 years. This is considerably longer than uPVC and wooden double glazing.
Montacute
Montacute is a tiny village and also civil parish in Somerset, England, 4 miles (6.4 kilometres) west of Yeovil. The village has a population of 831 (2011 census). The name Montacute is believed by some to derive from the Latin "Mons Acutus", referring to the conically intense St Michael's Hill dominating the village to the west. A different view is that it is called after Drogo de Montagu, whose family originated from Montaigu-les-Bois, in the arrondissement of Coutances. Mortain held Montacute after 1066, Drogo was a close associate. The village is constructed nearly entirely of the neighborhood hamstone. From the 15th century till the beginning of the 20th century it formed the heart of the estate of the Phelips household of Montacute House. The village has a great medieval church, and also was the site of a Cluniac abbey, the lodge of which is now a private house. At the centre of the town is a huge square known as the 'District' around which are grouped stunning homes as well as a pub, the Phelips Arms; there is a 2nd hostelry and also hotel situated in the village, called the King's Arms.
