Kidwelly
Kidwelly is a community as well as area in Carmarthenshire, southwest Wales, roughly 7 miles (11 km) northwest of one of the most populous town in the area, Llanelli. In the 2001 census the community of Kidwelly returned a population of 3,289, raising to 3,523 at the 2011 Census. It pushes the River Gwendraeth over Carmarthen Bay. Regional attractions consist of Kidwelly Castle, founded in 1106; a fourteenth-century bridge and entrance; the previous quay (now a nature reserve); a Norman parish church, and also a commercial gallery. Kidwelly Carnival is an annual occasion hung on the second Saturday of July. Previous circus have included airborne display screens. The town is twinned with French village Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer on the north coastline of Brittany.
