Dunoon
Dunoon is the main town on the Cowal peninsula in the south of Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It gets on the western coast of the upper Firth of Clyde, to the south of the Holy Loch and to the north of Innellan. The early history of Dunoon commonly focuses on 2 feuding clans: the Lamonts and the Campbells. Dunoon was a popular destination when travel by steamships prevailed around the Firth of Clyde; Glaswegians defined this as going "Doon the watter". This diminished, and also numerous holidaymakers began to go elsewhere as roadways as well as trains enhanced and the popularity of overseas traveling enhanced. In 1961, during the elevation of the Cold War, Dunoon became a fort community to the USA Navy. In 1992, they closed their Holy Loch base, as well as Dunoon experienced a financial downturn. Considering that the base's closure, the town and bordering location are once again looking to tourist, marketing to exterior lovers and wild animals fans in addition to advertising festivals and also competitors. The biggest annual occasion held in the community is the Cowal Highland Gathering. The Royal National Mòd has been held in the community 8 times, most recently in 2018.
