Isle Of Barra
Barra is an island in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, as well as the second southernmost populated island there, after the nearby island of Vatersay to which it is connected by a brief causeway. The island is named for Saint Finbarr of Cork. In 2011, the population was 1,174. Gaelic is widely spoken, and at the 2011 Census, there were 761 Gaelic speakers (62% of the population). The Isle of Barra is roughly 60 km2 (23 sq mi) in area, 11 miles (18 kilometres) long as well as 6 miles (10 kilometres) broad. A single-track roadway, the A888, runs around the shore of the southerly part of the island adhering to the flattest land as well as serving the many coastal negotiations. The interior of the island below is hilly as well as unoccupied. The west as well as north of the island has white sandy coastlines consisting of sand developed from marine shells adjoining the grassed machair, while the south eastern side has countless rough inlets. To the north a sandy pensinsula runs to the coastline flight terminal and Eoligarry.
