Craven Arms
Craven Arms (population 2,289) is a village and civil church in Shropshire, England, on the A49 road as well as the Welsh Marches railway line, which connect it north as well as south to the larger communities of Shrewsbury and Ludlow respectively. The Heart of Wales railway line joins the Welsh Marches line at Craven Arms and the community is served by Craven Arms train station. The community is confined to the north by the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and to the south is the fortified manor house of Stokesay Castle. Craven Arms is a market town for the bordering rural area, with a variety of shops, banks, estate agents, a grocery store, an abattoir and also many commercial/light industrial businesses. It is likewise a site visitor destination, being house or close-by to a number of destinations, and being central for site visitors to the area of superior all-natural beauty. It explains itself as the "Gateway to the Marches".
