The Rothwell Group has grown from strength to strength and expanded into a variety of expertise from its original beginnings. Formed in 1997 as a start-up company by founder Mr Bill Rothwell, they have strived to build a reputation for quality, technical ability and customer care.

The RPS group comprises of Domestic & Commercial plumbing, heating, electrical and renewable energy services, offering our customers a comprehensive solution for their refurbishment or new build requirements. With over 200 employees including skilled tradesmen, experienced staff and dedicated Customer Care support, the RPS Group provides a complete construction package that clients can rely on.

The company’s principals are all time-served plumbers and heating engineers and have extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of the plumbing & heating industry. They lead a team of skilled professionals that includes almost 100 gas safe registered engineers and 20 apprentices. Our mostly local workforce also includes electricians, solar engineers, builders and a dedicated team of admin staff based at our Wigan head office and North East regional office in North Shields. RPS’s rigorous internal and external staff training programme is a tribute to the company’s commitment to advancing the plumbing, heating and electrical trades which develops industry expertise and provides first class opportunities for high level apprenticeships, training and stable employment for local people.

As far as possible the company aims to recruit its workforce locally, delivering high specification training and empowering employees to carry out rewarding work within their own communities. Rothwell Plumbing’s traditional apprenticeship programme is currently 20 strong, helping apprentices acquire the skills of their trade. All apprentices work under the constant supervision of our highly experienced, time-served engineers and trades people who mentor and teach them the skills to help build their and the company’s future.

Our Areas of Expertise
Central Heating:
We design and install effective gas central heating systems that can be adapted to meet the specifications of different properties and clients. We install thousands of gas central heating systems each year for RSL’s, local authorities and also for major contractors working both in the social housing and new build sectors. All our gas engineers are fully ACS qualified and gas safe registered.

Bathrooms:
We work together with our clients to devise flexible programmes of work for the modernisation of tenants’ bathroom facilities. We also employ specialised teams of plumbers, engineers and other trades who are experienced in the installation of disabled bathroom adaptations and level entry shower systems to occupied dwellings.

Kitchens:
We work alongside builders, electricians and other skilled trades to install high quality kitchens with the minimum of disruption for the residents.

Electrical:
Our qualified electricians are always on hand to service your domestic, commercial and industrial design, installation and commissioning requirements. Our electricians often work in support of our heating engineers to ensure a complete, one stop heating installation package for our clients.

Renewable Energy & Microgeneration
Rothwell Plumbing Services are committed to strengthening partnerships with our existing clients as well as developing partnerships with new customers and together leading the way on helping to reduce carbon emissions within our communities. We provide a fully guaranteed and MCS accredited service for the installation of Solar Photovoltaics, Solar Thermal, Air & Ground Source Heat Pump Systems.

We take health & safety very seriously at Rothwell Plumbing Services and our company is one of the very few plumbing & heating contractors accredited to OHSAS 18001, the quality management health & safety system.

We are continually updating and improving our health & safety systems and procedures in order to maintain our high standards and have one of the best health & safety track records within our industry.

Every project we undertake is covered by our OHSAS 18001 accredited health & safety system with bespoke health & safety packages being tailored to suit the sometimes complex requirements of each individual project and client.

We are also accredited to CHAS, ROSPA, Safe Contractor, OHSAS 18001 and members of Merseyside Occupational Health & Safety Group and Merseyside & Cheshire Construction Safety Group.
