Barnehurst
Barnehurst is a town and district in South East London in the London Borough of Bexley. It is north east of Bexleyheath, and is 13 miles east south-east of Charing Cross. It is separated from North Bexleyheath by the A220 Erith Road.
The town was established just after the sale of land in 1881 to build the Bexleyheath loop line in between Lewisham and Dartford. Its name stems from the name of the railway station, which was named after Colonel Barne, who owned a local house and was vice-chairman of the railway company. Right now, the railway station runs trains between London Charing Cross, London Victoria or London Cannon Street, via Lewisham and Eltham to the west and Dartford railway station towards the east. There are 12 trains per hour throughout the week; on Sundays, there are four trains per hour. The railway station was openedto stimulate the creation of houses. The Barnehurst Estate was constructed in 1926 which housed several individuals.
As well as the railway station, Barnehurst is served by five buses, 1 of which goes to the well-liked Bluewater Shopping Centre. There are limited purchasing or leisure opportunities in the town, so people usually visit surrounding locations employing public transport links or the main roads.
Barnehurst is dwelling towards the non-league football club Phoenix Sports FC, which plays at Phoenimx Sports Ground.
