Wotton-under-Edge is a market community within the Stroud district of Gloucestershire, England. Found near the southern edge of the Cotswolds, the Cotswold Way long-distance walkway travels through the community. Basing on the B4058, Wotton has to do with 5 miles (8.0 kilometres) from the M5 motorway. The closest train station is Cam and Dursley, 7 miles (11 kilometres) away by road, on the Bristol to Birmingham line. The community is fairly well offered for a community of its dimension. It has several clubs and a hotel, and a variety of takeaways and dining establishments. It can be rather dynamic at night compared to many others of its dimension. It has several active social teams, such as Scouts, Guides, a horticulture club as well as the Wotton Lions. In 1958, regional individuals and college pupils built the community swimming pool, which was completed in 1961. Ultimately the pool has had solar and electric heating mounted. In 1999 with the fund raising assistance of community teams, a retractable enclosure was fitted to prolong the swimming season. In 2002, following the closure of the regional movie theater, a team of volunteers increased funds for a repair to turn into one of the very first electronic cinemas in the UK. It re-opened in 2005 as a 100-seat facility inside an old secure backyard, once part of the Crown Inn which closed in 1911. Films were first shown in the old Banqueting Hall of the Inn and relocated to the stable lawn some years later on, due to the popularity of movies. The Wotton Electric Picture House (the original name) is currently a thriving venue.
