Wick
Wick is a town and royal burgh in Caithness, in the far north of Scotland. The community straddles the River Wick as well as overlaps both sides of Wick Bay. Wick Region had a population of 6,954 at the time of the 2011 census, a decline of 3.8% from 2001. Pulteneytown, which was established on the south side of the river by the British Fisheries Society throughout the 19th century, was formally combined right into the burgh in 1902. The community is on the main road (the A99-- A9 road) linking John o' Groats with southerly Britain. The Far North train line links Wick train station with southerly Scotland and with Thurso, the other burgh of Caithness. Wick Flight terminal gets on Wick's north borders. The flight terminal has 2 useful runways. A third is derelict. The main offices of The John O'Groat Journal and The Caithness Carrier lie in Wick, as are Caithness General Hospital (run by NHS Highland), the Wick Carnegie Collection and also local workplaces of the Highland Council. Wick Constable Court is just one of 16 constable courts serving the sheriffdom of Grampian, Highland and Islands.
