Pevensey
Pevensey is a village as well as civil parish in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England. The primary town lies 5 miles (8 km) north-east of Eastbourne, one mile (1.6 km) inland from Pevensey Bay. The settlement of Pevensey Bay develops part of the parish. It was below that William the Conqueror made the touchdown in his invasion of England in 1066 after going across the English Channel from Normandy, France. In 1207 the town was approved a royal charter by King John as well as was regulated by Pevensey Corporation. With the decline in the town's relevance by the 19th century, the Corporation was at some point liquified in 1886 and the community shed its district condition. The documents of the Corporation are held in the East Sussex Record Office at Lewes, as well as a volunteer body, the Pevensey Town Trust, was developed to manage the residential property which had formerly belonged to the Corporation, most especially the Old Court House.
