Blandford Forum
Blandford Forum, generally Blandford, is a market community in the North Dorset district of Dorset, England, sited by the River Stour concerning 13 mi (21 km) northwest of Poole. It was the management headquarters of North Dorset District Council until April 2019, when area councils merged to become Dorset County Council. Blandford is notable for its Georgian architecture, the result of restoring after the majority of the community was ruined by a fire in 1731. The rebuilding work was assisted by an Act of Parliament and a donation by George II, and also the rebuilt town centre-- to layouts by local engineers John and William Bastard-- has endured to the here and now day mostly intact. Blandford Camp, an army base, is sited on the hills two miles to the north eastern of the town. It is the base of the Royal Corps of Signals, the communications wing of the British Army, and the website of the Royal Signals Gallery. Dorset Area Council approximates that in 2013 the town's civil parish had a population of 10,610. The community's economic climate is based on a mix of the service market as well as light sector, and also supplies work for regarding 4,000 people.
