Spean Bridge
Spean Bridge is a town in the parish of Kilmonivaig, in Lochaber in the Highland area of Scotland. The village takes its name from the Highbridge over the River Spean on General Wade's army road between Fort William as well as Ft Augustus, as well as not from Telford's bridge of 1819 which lugs the A82 over the river at the heart of the town. Hing on the Great Glen, Spean Bridge has transport links north towards Inverness and also south to Ft William, offered by the A82, as well as the A86 heads east to sign up with the A9 at Kingussie. The town is offered by the Spean Bridge train station providing links to Glasgow, London, and also Mallaig and also in between 1903 as well as 1933 it provided a branch line service to Fort Augustus. The Highbridge Skirmish on 16 August 1745 was the initial interaction of the Jacobite Climbing of 1745. The Commando Memorial, dedicated to the men of the initial British Commando Forces raised throughout Second World War, lies roughly 1 mile (1.6 km) north-west of Spean Bridge, at the joint of the A82 as well as the B8004. It ignores the training locations of the Commando Training Depot developed in 1942 at Achnacarry Castle.
