The London Borough of Redbridge is a London borough in North-East London, England. The borough was established in 1965 by the London Government Act 1963 as a merger of the former area of Ilford, Dagenham, Wanstead and Woodford and Chigwell Urban District. Its administrative headquarters is at Redbridge Town Hall in Ilford. The local authority is Redbridge London Borough Council. Redbridge is a borough that covers a total of 21.78 square miles. The borough is referred to as the 'leafy suburb' with a quarter of the borough covered by forest and green.
According to population estimates created during 2014, the borough features a permanent population of about 293055 inhabitants.|Redbridge has the third highest proportion of children plus a higher-than-average proportion of older adults whilst the proportion of working age adults is slightly less than average. Three quarters of houses are owner-occupied.
Redbridge is one of London's greenest Boroughs, with more than 35 parks, playgrounds and open spaces to enjoy. These consist of Hainault Forest Country Park, featuring 300 acres of countryside including adventure play areas, cafe and a petting zoo; Roding Valley Park, a wildlife sanctuary with a wide array of flora and fauna and woodland areas to explore; and Fairlop Waters Country Park, which provides a massive selection of activities both on and off the water.|The award winning Valentines Park can be found next to the stunning Valentines Mansion, ornamental gardens, bowling green and outdoor gym amongst other attractions.
