Isle Of Barra
Barra is an island in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, and also the second southernmost populated island there, after the surrounding island of Vatersay to which it is attached by a short embankment. The island is named for Saint Finbarr of Cork. In 2011, the population was 1,174. Gaelic is widely talked, as well as at the 2011 Census, there were 761 Gaelic speakers (62% of the population). The Isle of Barra is about 60 km2 (23 sq mi) in location, 11 miles (18 km) long and also 6 miles (10 kilometres) wide. To the north a sandy pensinsula runs to the coastline airport and Eoligarry.
