Ambleside
Ambleside is a town in Cumbria, in North West England. Historically in Westmorland, it is situated at the head of Windermere, England's biggest natural lake. The community is within the Lake District National Forest. Ambleside is provided by South Lakeland District Council and kinds part of the Lakes civil church yet from 1894 to 1935 it was a different urban area council. Ferryboats (still known as "steamers", although now diesel powered) go to Bowness-on-Windermere and Shore using great sights of the lake and also surrounding mountains. Ambleside is a base for treking, mountaineering and hill biking. It has a number of resorts, bed and breakfast, bars as well as restaurants along with stores. Particularly, there are a number of stores selling equipment for pedestrians and also mountain climbers in the town. Ambleside is a prominent beginning point for the Fairfield horseshoe, a hillwalking ridge hike. The album CSI: Ambleside, by Birkenhead-based band Half Guy Half Biscuit, is called after the town.
