There are several different kinds of plastering. ‘Dot and dab’ refers to a base layer of plasterboard which is attached to a wall using ‘dabs’ of adhesive. ‘Floating’ is a technique where a backing or undercoat plaster is applied to walls. ‘Skimming’ or ‘reskimming’ refers to the very thin final decorative layer of plaster.
Settle
Settle is a small market town and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. Historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is offered by Settle railway station situated near the community centre, and also Giggleswick railway station which is a mile away. It is 29 miles (47 kilometres) from Leeds Bradford Airport. The highway with Settle is the B6480, which links to the A65, connecting Settle to Leeds, Ilkley, Skipton and Kendal. The town has a population of 2,421 according to the 2001 Census raising to 2,564 at the 2011 Census. Work out was part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. It lies in Ribblesdale, at the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales, within a couple of miles of the Three Peaks. Instantly forgeting the town is Castlebergh, a 300 feet (91 m) limestone crag, and also to the east is Malham which was in the former Settle Rural District. The River Ribble offered power for Settle's former cotton mills, and is currently being taken advantage of by Settle Hydro, a micro hydroelectric scheme, to give 50 kW of power to the National Grid.
