Kidwelly
Kidwelly is a town and also community in Carmarthenshire, southwest Wales, approximately 7 miles (11 km) northwest of one of the most populated community in the region, Llanelli. In the 2001 census the community of Kidwelly returned a population of 3,289, raising to 3,523 at the 2011 Census. It rests on the River Gwendraeth over Carmarthen Bay. Regional tourist attractions consist of Kidwelly Castle, established in 1106; a fourteenth-century bridge and entrance; the previous quay (now a nature book); a Norman parish church, as well as a commercial museum. Kidwelly Carnival is an annual occasion held on the 2nd Saturday of July. Previous carnivals have featured airborne display screens. The town is twinned with French village Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer on the north coastline of Brittany.
