Tonypandy
Tonypandy is a town as well as community situated in the area borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, within the historical area boundaries of Glamorgan, Wales, hing on the Rhondda Fawr Valley. A previous industrial coal mining community, today Tonypandy is best known as the site of the 1910 Tonypandy troubles. Tonypandy implies fulling mill lea, from Welsh ton (antiquated tonnau) for lea, layland, field, grassland or unploughed land; pannu for fulling and ty for home (cf. pandy).
