Porth
Porth (population 5,970) is a community and a neighborhood in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, within the historical region borders of Glamorgan, Wales, lying in the Rhondda Valley as well as is considered the gateway to the Rhondda Fawr as well as Rhondda Fach valleys because both valleys fulfill at Porth. The Welsh word "porth" means "gate". Porth is a predominantly English-speaking area. Neighbouring villages include Trealaw, Trebanog, Trehafod and Ynyshir. Today the primary interior economic climate of Porth is retail and the centre of Porth is residence to the shopping area based around Hannah Street. Most other business lie on close-by Pontypridd Roadway and Porth Road. Presently, Porth is home to around 6,000 people residing in various areas of the community, specifically Birchgrove, Britannia, Glynfach, Llwyncelyn, Mount Pleasant as well as Porth town centre.
