Spean Bridge
Spean Bridge is a village in the parish of Kilmonivaig, in Lochaber in the Highland area of Scotland. The town takes its name from the Highbridge over the River Spean on General Wade's military road in between Ft William and also Ft Augustus, and not from Telford's bridge of 1819 which carries the A82 over the river at the heart of the town. Hing on the Great Glen, Spean Bridge has transportation links north towards Inverness and also south to Fort William, provided by the A82, and also the A86 heads east to join the A9 at Kingussie. The town is served by the Spean Bridge train station offering links to Glasgow, London, and also Mallaig and in between 1903 and also 1933 it supplied a branch line service to Fort Augustus.
