Larbert

Larbert is a town in the Falkirk council region of Scotland. The town is found in the Forth Valley over the River Carron which flows from the west. It is set approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) from the coastline of the Firth of Forth and 2.5 miles (4.0 kilometres) northwest of Falkirk, the main town in the area. The village of Stenhousemuir lies directly east of Larbert, with both settlements being contiguous and sharing a number of public amenities with each other.

In middle ages times, the Larbert region was densely forested, but this was cleared and brought on much of the farming land which surrounds the town. The development of industry and even more so the arrival in the 1840s of the Scottish Central Railway, which travels through the village, gave a base for economic growth. From the late 18th century until the middle of the 20th century, heavy industry, such as boiler making, casting and manufacturing underpinned the economy of Larbert. The Victorian era also saw the opening of the Stirling District Lunatic Asylum at Bellsdyke and Scottish National Institution for Children on the Stenhouse Estate. This made Larbert crucial in offering care, both regionally and across the country. While the original economic base of Larbert disappeared with the drop-off of heavy industry, it has recently experienced much development as a commuter town. Numerous citizens are employed in the nearby towns of Falkirk and Stirling, in addition to the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow. The 2011 Census demonstrates that the population of Larbert has grown to 9143 from the 2001 Census record of 6425, and it continues to expand with large-scale housing development on the northern periphery of the town along with on brownfield sites. For all your home renovations, be sure to find reliable experts in Larbert to make certain of quality.

FAQs

What’s LPG?

LPG stands for liquid petroleum gas. It’s a by-product of refined crude oil. When it’s put under pressure, LPG turns into a liquid. It’s usually stored in this form. LPG is used as fuel for things like BBQs and camping stoves, as well as central heating.

Where can I put an LPG storage tank?

Your LPG storage tank will need to go outside your property, possibly underground if you have limited space. There are planning rules that restrict where you can put your tank, especially if your property is listed or on designated land. Take a look at our planning permission article to find out more.

How do I know when I need more fuel delivering for my LPG boiler?

Your LPG storage tank should have a gauge that shows you how much fuel it has in it. Most LPG suppliers suggest that you arrange a fuel delivery when the level in your tank gets down to about 20%. Make regular checks, particularly in the winter when you will use more, so you know when levels are low.

How do I get fuel for my LPG boiler?

If you choose to install an LPG boiler, you’ll need to find an LPG supplier. They’ll deliver fuel to you every time your storage tank runs low. You can even rent a storage tank from them if you don’t want to buy one. Make sure you know who your local suppliers are and where they are based.
