Bo'ness

Bo'ness, officially called Borrowstounness, is a coastal parish inside the Central Lowlands of Scotland. Before the local government reforms at the end of the twentieth century, it was part of the county of West Lothian. Situated on a hillside around the south bank of the Firth of Forth inside the Falkirk council area, it's 16.9 miles to the northwest of Edinburgh and 6.7 miles east of Falkirk. Based on the 2001 Census, Bo'ness has a permanent resident population of 13,961, and estimates in 2008 have suggested that it has expanded to approximately 14,490 residents. A large amount of the residents commute to work, primarily to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Flakirk, meaning that the town is largely a commuter town. On the list of most significant employers is the Ineos petrochemical facility, which is located by Grangemouth, which is close to the town. Bo'ness has a lot of attractions which are popular with local residents and guests. Some examples include the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway, the Birkhill Fireclay Mine as well as the remains of an engine house. Kinneil House, a traditional residence maintained by Historic Scotland, is located within a public park and the grounds in which James Watt developed the steam engine. His workshop remains in ruins. The town also features a recently redeveloped Hippodrome Cinema, the oldest picture house in Scotland, built in 1912 and developed by a local architect and resident, Matthew Steele. For all your home improvement jobs, ensure that you choose trusted professionals in Bo'ness to ensure that you get the top quality service.

FAQs

Where can I put an LPG storage tank?

Your LPG storage tank will need to go outside your property, possibly underground if you have limited space. There are planning rules that restrict where you can put your tank, especially if your property is listed or on designated land. Take a look at our planning permission article to find out more.

How do I get fuel for my LPG boiler?

If you choose to install an LPG boiler, you’ll need to find an LPG supplier. They’ll deliver fuel to you every time your storage tank runs low. You can even rent a storage tank from them if you don’t want to buy one. Make sure you know who your local suppliers are and where they are based.

What’s LPG?

LPG stands for liquid petroleum gas. It’s a by-product of refined crude oil. When it’s put under pressure, LPG turns into a liquid. It’s usually stored in this form. LPG is used as fuel for things like BBQs and camping stoves, as well as central heating.

How do I know when I need more fuel delivering for my LPG boiler?

Your LPG storage tank should have a gauge that shows you how much fuel it has in it. Most LPG suppliers suggest that you arrange a fuel delivery when the level in your tank gets down to about 20%. Make regular checks, particularly in the winter when you will use more, so you know when levels are low.
