Kinlochleven
Kinlochleven is a village located in Lochaber, in the Scottish Highlands as well as lies at the eastern end of Loch Leven. To the north exist the Mamores ridge; to the south lie the hills flanking Glen Coe. The town was developed from two formerly separate little communities - Kinlochmore to the north of the River Leven in Inverness-shire and Kinlochbeg to the south of the Leven in Argyll - complying with the construction of an aluminium smelter and also associated housing for its staff members. The processing plant was powered by a hydroelectric scheme located in the mountains over, and made Kinlochleven the first town worldwide to have every home connected to electrical energy, creating the phrase "The Electric Village". In 1991, the town (according to annual census returns) had just over 1000 inhabitants in some 420 families. Today it is a remarkable vacationer destination as well as centre for hill quests.
