Dalmally
Dalmally is a village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is near the A85 road and is served by Dalmally train station. Former Labour Party leader John Smith was birthed in Dalmally in 1938. The village is the place of the Craig Lodge Community Family House Of Worship, a Roman Catholic resort house. The charity Scottish International Alleviation, also called Mary's Meals, is based in Dalmally. Glenorchy Camanachd, a shinty team, play their home games in the village at Mart Park. Dalmally Bridge over the River Orchy was developed by Ludovic Picard, an engineer who worked for Lord Breadalbane. In 1780-- 81 he developed numerous piles at the western end of the Breadalbane Estates: Dalmally Bridge, the Bridge of Awe, which was swept away in 1992, Dalmally Inn, a renovated church, and also a number of various other residences in the area. Dalmally Bridge was constructed to make movements of livestock and troops much easier: it got on the armed forces roadway between Tyndrum and Oban. Given that 1780, Dalmally Bridge has been reinforced as well as repaired. It endures the force of the river in wave, as well as is a favorite place from which to seek trout and salmon.
