Heriot
Heriot is a little village in the Moorfoot Hills southeast of Edinburgh, Scotland, within Eildon (part of the Scottish Boundaries council area, though traditionally in Midlothian). The village makes up some 150 houses, topped a geographical area of around 50 square miles (130 km2), most of which is moorland. Connected to the remainder of the world mainly with the A7 roadway, Heriot had a train station from 1849 until the branch line closures instigated by Beeching created the track to be boosted in the 1960s. The Scottish Parliament voted, in 2006, to restore the railway, however without a station at Heriot. The School (as of Sept 2016) has 36 students. There are numerous community teams running in the village consisting of dramatization groups, WRI, a community choir as well as a martial arts club. Places near to Heriot consist of Borthwick, Carcant, Crichton, Fala, Stow of Wedale as well as Innerleithen.
