Carrbridge
Carrbridge is a village in Badenoch and Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands. It exists off the A9 on the A938, west of Skye of Curr, southeast of Tomatin, near Bogroy. It has the earliest stone bridge in the Highlands and also the nearby old yearn forest consists of the Landmark Forest Adventure Park. Carrbridge is about 10 km (6 mi) north of Aviemore and also creates a gateway to the Cairngorms National Park. It was a very early centre for skiing in Scotland. In the 2001 census the village had a population of 708 individuals, with the bulk employed in tourist. Till the 1980s bypass was created, the A9 ran straight through the village. Carrbridge is offered by Carrbridge train station on the Highland Main Line. Regional dispute still raves regarding the name Carrbridge itself, with some liking to see it hyphenated to Carr-bridge. The word "Carr" has nothing to do with motorised transportation however is stemmed from the Old Norse word for boggy area.
