Wylam
Wylam is a town in the region of Northumberland. It lies about 10 miles (16 km) west of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is renowned for the being the birthplace of George Stephenson, one of the very early train pioneers. George Stephenson's Birthplace, his cottage, can be located on the north bank of the Tyne 3/4 mile (1.2 kilometres) eastern of the village centre. It is possessed by the National Trust yet is closed to the general public. Wylam has further connections with the very early train leaders.
