Westcliff-on-sea
Westcliff-on-Sea is a residential area of Southend-on-Sea, a seaside resort and unitary authority in Essex in south-east England. It is on the north shore of the lower Thames Estuary, concerning 34 miles (55 km) eastern of London. The primary buying location in Westcliff-on-Sea is Hamlet Court Road, where the department store Havens, established in 1901, continued to be the anchor store until its closure in 2017. Hamlet Court Road took its name from a manor house called the Hamlet Court, which stood on land currently inhabited by Pavarotti's dining establishment and adjacent stores, encountering in the direction of the sea with sweeping gardens to the rail line. The road later became a strong independent retail area and promptly became famous outside the location as the Bond Street of Essex. There were lots of haberdashers and also professional stores, as well as it was not as well uncommon to see drivers awaiting their companies to emerge from the stores.
