Torrington
Great Torrington (commonly abbreviated to Torrington, though the towns of Little Torrington and also Black Torrington are positioned in the very same region) is a small market community in the north of Devon, England. Parts of it are sited above ground with steep drops down to the River Torridge below, with the lower-lying parts of the community vulnerable to occasional flooding. Torrington is in the centre of Tarka Country, a landscape captured by Henry Williamson in his novel Tarka the Otter in 1927. Great Torrington has among one of the most energetic offering neighborhoods in the United Kingdom. In July 2019, Great Torrington was reported to be the healthiest place to stay in Britain. Scientists from the College of Liverpool found that the location had reduced degrees of contamination, good accessibility to green area and health services, together with few retail outlets.
