Sturminster Newton
Sturminster Newton is a town and civil parish in the Blackmore Vale location of Dorset, England. It is situated on a reduced sedimentary rock ridge in a meander of the River Stour. The community goes to the centre of a large milk farming region, around which the town's economic climate is constructed. The majority of the town (Sturminster) lies on the north side of the river, and also includes most shops as well as solutions, whilst to the south is the smaller Newton. In between these two locations is a vast flood plain. The town was the residence of poet and author William Barnes, and also, for part of his life, Thomas Hardy. The town has 43 stores, a key and also secondary school, and a college and university wedding catering for kids with unique instructional demands. In the 2011 census the town's civil parish had a population of 4,945. A market is held in the town on Mondays. One of the biggest livestock markets in England utilized to be held right here, yet it was closed in 1998 and also now in its place stands a housing estate and a 300-seat neighborhood arts centre called The Exchange. The town becomes part of the historic West Country Carnival circuit.
