Hinton St George
Hinton St George is a town as well as parish in Somerset, England, situated 3 miles (4.8 km) outside Crewkerne, 10 miles (16.1 km) southern west of Yeovil in the South Somerset district. The town has a population of 442. It has a broad primary road lined with hamstone homes, some thatched. The town has a successful store. The town does not lie on a major road, and has a couple of vacation homes as well as 2nd homes. The parish belonged to the numerous Crewkerne. Much of the advancement of the village happened under the lords Poulett extending their large house and estate (Hinton House). By the 1560s the 3 open cultivatable areas had been confined and 2 large estates of 74 as well as 68 acres (280,000 m2) developed, based upon the now vanished hamlet of Craft. The park included deer and orchards, with cherry trees. The town cross is an 8 feet 2 inches (2.49 m) high cross with a tapering octagonal shaft on tipped octagonal base. It is an arranged monolith and Grade II * listed building.
