Smart Thermostat in Fort William

Controlling the way your property is heated is amongst the better ways to lower high-priced energy expenses and leave you with more disposable earnings at the end of each month. In fact, 60% of your energy bill is from heating your home, so it's certainly a good place to begin.

With the proper controls you'll have the ability to keep your house at a comfortable temperature, whilst simultaneously not wasting additional money on fuel. You'll likewise be able to keep your home carbon dioxide emissions down as well.

Fortunately, heating control systems may be used with any central heating boiler, regardless of type or age. This signifies there's a saving to be made should you just go out there and get it.

By installing a heating control system you'll save in between £70 and £150 every year. On top of this there are plenty of CO2 emissions to be reduced as well and you will cut between 310kg and 630kg every year.

Also consider the temperature you have your thermostat set on. By only turning it down one degree, you can save around £75 annually and won't feel a difference in temperature either.

Fort William is a settlement in the Highlands of Scotland. Originally founded on the still-extant village of Inverlochy, the town is located at the southern end of the Great Glen, Fort William is found nearby the head of Loch Linnhe, among Scotland's longest sea lochs, alongside the mouth of the rivers Nevis and Lochy. It is close to Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles, Glen Nevis and the town of Achnaphubuil is on the opposite shore of the loch. The effect was that the town was separated from the lochside by railway tracks prior to the 1970s when the present by-pass was constructed, and the station was re-located to the north side. In accordance with the 2001 Census, it has a permanent resident population of about 9908. This makes Fort William the 2nd largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger. Within this population, around 726 people, forming 7.33 per cent of the population, can speak Gaelic. Fort William is a notable tourism centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. It is a hub for hillwalking and climbing due to its vicinity to Ben Nevis and numerous other Munro mountains. It is also known for its close-by downhill trail bike track. It is the start and end of both the West Highland Way (Milngavie-Fort William) and the Great Glen Way (a walk/cycle way Fort William-Inverness). can you use hive with an oil boiler?

Smart controls such as Hive are the next generation technology with more and more people now converting their houses into smart homes to control multiple devices in the homes remotely. Smart technology can be incorporated with several household devices such as security, lighting, entertainment and more. But what if there’s an oil boiler installed in your home, can you still connect your Hive with the your heating? Well, simply read on to find out.

The answer to this question is yes, most oil boilers are compatible with Hive and can substitute for either an existing conventional programmer or thermostat. The smart technology works to help derive more benefits from your heating system and they usually come with apps which can be used to control your home’s heating from anywhere with just your mobile device. Hive, however, cannot work to replace the functions of smart oil boiler heating controls to modulate your heating as they only work on an on or off basis. To make use of the modulating technology in an oil boiler, the cost of manufacture would be considerably higher while offering little advantage in efficiency for the home or property owner. Ultimately, this implies that you can’t incorporate smart technology to control the output in a similar way as a gas boiler, but there are still some ways to utilize smart technology with your oil boiler in such a way to boost your efficiency and lessen the energy bills.

Do you want to use your Hive with your home’s oil boiler? We’d advise you get in touch with an OFTEC qualified engineer if you wish to install Hive Active Heating on your oil boiler, as British Gas engineer do not offer this service.
