Garden Sheds in Hayle

Garden sheds are a crucial component of any practical garden space. They can provide storage for heavy garden tools, as well as for other tools. A larger sized garden shed could even provide enough room for plant potting or a general workshop. Alternatively, a sizeable shed could be utilised as an inside sitting area. Garden sheds come in an enormous choice of sizes and can be specified to your exact requirements, providing you complete control over the number and placement of windows, type, size and location of door, and design of roof. Garden sheds generally are available in one of three materials. Wooden sheds are the common style and can be integrated well into any garden creating a natural look, particularly if the wood used for the shed is matched to adjoining fences. Wooden sheds remain extremely popular, although they will demand maintenance by retreating or staining the wood to protect the lifespan of the shed. Garden sheds are also manufactured from metal, which is very tough and therefore great for storage of tools and other equipment. Metal sheds additionally require hardly any maintenance. The final material for garden sheds is plastic, which in modern examples is far more resilient than might be expected. When contemplating a garden shed, it's vital to make sure that you select one that will fit in your garden space. Garden sheds will need to be sited on a flat area, and will require a base to be built as a foundation. This base could be produced from either concrete, paving, gravel or a floating wooden base, but will need to be the right size for your shed and able to support the weight of your shed when loaded.

Hayle

Hayle is a small town, civil parish as well as cargo port in west Cornwall, United Kingdom. It is situated at the mouth of the Hayle River (which discharges right into St Ives Bay) as well as is around 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Penzance. Hayle church was created in 1888 from part of the currently inoperative Phillack parish, with which it was later combined in 1935, and incorporated part of St Erth in 1937. The modern-day church shares limits with St Ives to the west, St Erth to the south, Gwinear and also Gwithian in the east, as well as is bounded to the north by the Celtic Sea. Hayle's position by the sea and its 3 miles of golden sandy coastlines enabled it to develop as a vacation destination. Certainly, Hayle still has much holiday accommodation. The dune or Towans are the favoured location for a variety of holiday villages and also caravan as well as outdoor camping sites. The Gwithian coastline near Godrevy is attractive and a popular location for water-related sports consisting of browsing, windsurfing as well as body-boarding.

FAQs

Who makes the best garden sheds?
Who makes the best garden sheds? While you think there might be a straightforward answer, who makes the best shed for you depends on what you need it for, how much space you have and more. We’ll help you find out who makes the best garden shed for you. What to look for in a garden shed Before you fork out for a new shed, consider:
  • What you need the shed for
  • How much space you have
  • How big you need the shed to be
  • Which style of roof you want
  • What material you would like
  • How big your budget is
Once you know the answer to these questions, you can take a look at some of the best brands of garden shed. They come with a 15-year anti-rot warranty, so should last you a long time; they’re made from 12mm tongue and groove panels which helps to keep them strong and secure for years to come. Our top pick: 8′ x 6′ Heavy Duty Apex Single Door Shed

You’ll be able to find something to suit your budget and your needs. Our top pick: Overlap Pressure Treated 6×4 Pent Shed

  • Door can be hinged either side
BillyOh BillyOh sheds are affordable wooden sheds that come in lots of shapes and sizes, so you’re bound to find one to suit your garden. They offer wooden floors as an optional extra as well as lots of other things so you can create a bespoke shed that will work best for you. Our top pick: Master Tall Store
  • Ideal for small gardens or those with fewer tools to store
  • Apex roof for water runoff
  • Tongue and groove walls
  • Tall floor-to-gable door
Where should I put my garden shed?

Try to put your shed in open space, away from trees, bushes and other buildings. This will help to protect it from falling branches and sap. It will also mean that you can access all sides of the shed for repair and maintenance purposes. Make sure you take a look at garden shed planning rules before you pick a final spot for your shed.

How to felt a shed roof?
Whether you want to felt a new shed roof or you’re re-felting your existing shed roof, it’s simple when you know how. Read our quick guide to see how easy it is.
  1. Remove any existing fascia boards Remove the fascia boards and the old felt if you’re re-felting.
  2. Measure the shed roof Measure the roof, taking into account that you should leave around 50mm for overlaps at the eaves and 75mm at the gable ends. You’ll probably need 3 pieces of felt, but some smaller sheds only need 2.
  3. Apply felt to the roof Once you’ve cut the felt to size, apply the each piece to the roof, pulling it tight. Then nail along the length of the roof at 100mm intervals. For nails at the bottom edge, they can be wider – around 300mm. If you’re adding a piece of felt in the middle of the shed along the apex, fix it using adhesive, then nail it at the lower edge at 50mm intervals.
  4. Tidy up the overhangs Fold down the felt at each overhang and nail it securely. Cut a slit in the overhang at the apex using a pen knife, then fold that down and nail at 100mm intervals along the gable. If you like, you can add fascia boards to keep the shed looking neat. Use wood nails to secure them and then trim away any excess felt.
That’s it. It sounds scary, but it won’t take you long to felt your shed roof as long as you follow instructions carefully.
How to build a shed base on uneven ground?
Building a shed base on uneven ground can be as easy as digging out a sub-base and checking that it’s level. You can dig down until the soil is light brown and rather compact, then work out where the ground is uneven and move soil around to compensate. Add a weed-blocking membrane down then put plastic grids in to act as your shed base or continue to make a sub-base for paving slabs or concrete. However, you could also build a timber shed base on uneven ground using concrete blocks to level it out.
  1. Mark out the area and dig the top layer of soil, trying to get the ground as flat as possible.
  2. Build a timber frame to size.
  3. Measure out 4 rows of 3 blocks to create good weight distribution and lay in place.
  4. Underneath each block, dig around 50mm wider than the blocks and about 150mm deep. Fill the hole with pea gravel until it’s flat.
  5. Place timber planks along the rows of blocks and see how level it is. Add or remove blocks where necessary. If it’s only a small difference, use shingle underneath the timber until it’s level.
  6. Nail your timber shed base to the timber planks to create a sturdy base for your shed.
If you’ve got any questions about building a shed base on uneven ground, it’s best leaving it to the pros. Get in touch with a range of builders who will be able to offer you a quote.
