Lydbury North
Lydbury North is a village as well as a geographically large civil church in south Shropshire, England.The population of the Civil Parish at the 2011 census was 695. The church is locally called Lydbury as well as there is no settlement called Lydbury South. It is located at grid reference SO352859. It is located in the south west corner of the region, close to the towns of Clun and Bishop's Castle. The B4385 road goes through the village, as does the Jack Mytton Way. To the west is the town and also parish of Colebatch. There is a part-time post office, neighborhood shop, college and church below. Also there is a pub called the Powis Arms. According to the Institute for Name Studies the name is Old English in derivation and also suggests 'Stronghold on the * Hlyde (= noisy stream)', maybe a very early name for the River Kemp. The town lies in between 155m and also 165m above water level. Whilst the land to the south is level, to the north it rises considerably. Priors Holt, Priors Holt Hill and also Churchmoor are at the northeastern extremities of the church, the church of which in Lydbury North, St Michael and All Angels, contains a small Catholic church.
