Fraserburgh

Fraserburgh is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. In accordance with the 2001 Census, the town has a permanent resident population of about 12454, with assessments in 2006 indicating a figure of 12630. The name of the town means, basically, 'burgh of Fraser', after the Fraser family that obtained the grounds of Philorth in 1504 and afterwards gave rise to significant enhancement because of investment over the next century. Fraserburgh came to be a burgh of barony in 1546. By 1570, the Fraser family had constructed a castle, Fraserburgh Castle, at Kinnaird's Head and within a year the local church was built. By the 1590s, the region referred to as Faithlie was building a small harbour. It lies at the far northeast corner of Aberdeenshire, about 40 miles (64 km) north of Aberdeen, and 17 miles (27 kilometres) north of Peterhead. It is the biggest shellfish port in Europe, landing over 12000 tonnes in 2008, and is also a significant white fish port and active commercial harbour. Fraserburgh has a marine climate greatly influenced by its distance to the sea. As such, summer highs and winter lows are heavily moderated, with remarkably mild winter temperatures for a place so far north. The variations between seasons are very small as a result, with February averaging highs of 6.7 degrees Celsius (44.1 ° F) and August 17.2 degrees Celsius (63.0 ° F). The town has had a local lifeboat on service since 1806 which was run privately by the local Harbour Board before the very first RNLI-operated station opened in 1858. This was the very first official RNLI station opened in Scotland. The town has several tourist attractions including an award winning sand beach, the lighthouse museum, heritage centre and many amenities. For all your home enhancements, be sure to find trustworthy specialists in Fraserburgh to make certain of quality.

FAQs

Will the company deal with the building control application?

Most companies will make the building control application on your behalf and ensure that all the work is completed to the right standards. When a building inspector has inspected it, you’ll get a certificate. It usually takes around 6-8 weeks after completion to come.

what is a garage conversion?

What is your garage being used for? If your answer is anything besides your vehicle, you’re in the majority in the UK. In the country, according to a research by Admiralty Loans, several home and property owners now use their garage as dumping ground for all sorts of stuffs asides a car. Ultimately, this gives rise to garage conversions as the more or less underutilized space can be converted into a living space which can be more beneficial while also adding more value to the property.

A garage conversion is a fast and relatively affordable route to adding more floor space within your home. It’s basically the act of changing your garage into something other than a storage or a place in which you can park your car. This can be anything from a bedroom to a playroom and anything in between. It’s a great way to provide extra space to allow your family to spread out and have more privacy while still within the walls of your home.

A garage conversion project is a huge one which mostly does not require a planning application so far the conversion is internal. However if you’re planning to increase the garage’s size or change the exterior of your home, or convert your garage into a separate room, then you may require a planning permission before getting started. It’s always wise to consult your local authority before carrying out any work to be on the safer side.

A project of garage conversion’s magnitude is better left to a reliable professional who have the experience when it comes to dealing with building regulations and more. This way, you’d also get to save yourself some headaches and some extra cash which may result from possible costly errors.

Will I need planning permission or building regulations approval?

You may need planning permission if you are planning a larger extension. All extensions will need building regulations approval. An architect can assist with this and if planning permission is required. A reputable contractor will also be able to advise you if this is needed as well.

Will my garage conversion cause disruption to the rest of the house?

It shouldn’t do. Most companies will do all the interior work first, and the last job to do will be creating the opening from the house to the conversion. A reputable company will make sure they cause as little disruption as possible during this time.
