Strathaven
Strathaven is a historical market town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland and also is the biggest negotiation in Avondale. The community was approved a Royal Charter in 1450, making the Community of Strathaven a burgh of barony. The existing estimated population is 7,500. The town is located on the edge of the strath of the Avon Water, around 6 miles (10 kilometres) from Hamilton as well as 18 miles (29 km) from Glasgow. The A71, which connects Edinburgh and also Kilmarnock goes through the town. In the 2001 demographics the town had a population of 7,700. Strathaven has one high school and 3 primary schools - Kirklandpark Primary, Wester Overton Primary, and St Patrick's Primary. It also has a grass landing field about 2 miles (3 kilometres) to the north west on Lethame Road.
