Sanquhar
Sanquhar is a town on the River Nith in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It exists north of Thornhill and also west of Moffat. It is a previous Royal Burgh. Sanquhar is significant for its little post office, established in 1712 and held to be the oldest working post office in the world. It was likewise the area where the Covenanters, who opposed episcopalisation of the church, signed the Sanquhar Declaration relinquishing their allegiance to the King, an event honored by a monolith generally road. The church of St Brides has a memorial to James Crichton, a 16th-century polymath. The damages of Sanquhar Castle stand neighboring. Nithsdale Wanderers, the neighborhood team, were developed in 1897. In 1924-- 25, Wanderers won the Scottish Division 3.
