Flooring Renovation in Scotland

Renovating floors may require an array of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even entirely removing and replacing flooring. The type of restoration work will vary among the variety of the pre-existing flooring. In older properties with period floors like flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, restoration will typically require repair and cleaning of the current floor as it will likely be an appealing attribute of the property. In newer houses with carpet or real wood floors, restoration is more likely to involve completely changing the current flooring, either like for like using a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden flooring, the procedure of restoration generally consists of sanding the top layer of real wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile flooring can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles substituted, accompanied by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further problems or damage will commonly require replacing the carpet. Specialised floor renovation companies can advise you of the best solution to breathe new life into tired flooring or bring old flooring up to a high standard. Specialist tools are often essential for repairing or replacing flooring.

Scotland

Scotland is one of the four countries that make up the UK, and with a populace of more than 5 million, is the second largest in Britain. There are seven cities across the country, such as the capital city of Edinburgh as well as the largest by population, Glasgow. A great deal of Scotland is made up of unspoilt countryside, including the famous Highland region, and this is reflected in a low population density of 67.5 people per square kilometre. FAQs

How to repair wooden flooring

One the several of the several benefits that comes with having a wooden floor installed is the fact that damaged surfaces can be repaired without the need to replace the floor in the whole room. This is not applicable to many other types of flooring whereby even the littlest damages are not reparable. Depending on the severity and depth of the wooden flooring damage, there are a number of techniques you can incorporate to repair the affected area. For examples, minor damages will not require as much effort as corner curling or cupping. In certain cases where the job requires no expertise, the repair process can be done by any individual with no prior experience in similar works. However, in other cases, when the wooden flooring has suffered a major damage, it’s advisable to call for a professional help.

First of all, it’s quite important to always watch out and prevent any sort of damages as this is way better than spending time trying to have the damaged surface repaired. One of the ways to prevent damages is by always lifting furniture rather than just dragging it across the floor when you need to move it. However, accidents are always meant to happen. In the case of damaged wooden flooring, here are some repair solutions.

When there are small scratches on your flooring, simply add a new coating of sealer to your floor (if the floor has already been oiled, just add another layer of oil). For lacquered floors, make use of a lacquer repair pen to help get rid of the scratches. In addition, there are some DIY shops offering wax filler sticks which can be used to hide or remove both light and medium scratches on wooden flooring.
