Colyton

Colyton is a town in Devon, England. It is located within the East Devon neighborhood authority area. It is 3 miles (4.8 kilometres) from Seaton and 6 miles (9.7 km) from Axminster. Its population in 1991 was 2,783, lowering to 2,105 at the 2011 Census. Colyton is a major part of the Coly Valley electoral ward. The ward population at the above demographics was 4,493. Colyton initially looked like an ancient town around 700 AD and also features in the Domesday Book as 'Culitone'. The third code of regulation of King Edmund I was provided at Colyton in around 945. This assisted to stabilize feudal society, by mentioning clearly its 4 columns: kingship, lordship, family members, as well as neighbourhood. It grew into a crucial agricultural centre and market town with a corn mill, saw mill, iron shop as well as an oak bark tannery that is still functioning. Located 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to the north of the town was Colcombe Castle, now demolished, a former seat of the Courtenay household, Earls of Devon. Adhering to the attainder of the Marquis of Exeter the Courtenay lands escheated to the Crown, and also those within Colyton were marketed back for £1,000 to numerous locals of Colyton church, as listed in an action recorded in the Letters and Documents of Henry VIII dated 6 January 1547, summarised as "John Clarke and others. Grant in free socage, based on rental fees and so on (specified), for l,000 l, of the following lands (degrees provided) in the church of Colyton, which are parcels of Colyton estate, Devon, as well as belonged to Henry Marquis of Exeter, attainted". This was the origin of the Feoffees of Colyton, that continued to keep in typical numerous buildings in the parish. The town has been called "the most defiant community in Devon" due to the variety of its occupants that joined the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685.

How to repair wooden flooring

One the several of the several benefits that comes with having a wooden floor installed is the fact that damaged surfaces can be repaired without the need to replace the floor in the whole room. This is not applicable to many other types of flooring whereby even the littlest damages are not reparable. Depending on the severity and depth of the wooden flooring damage, there are a number of techniques you can incorporate to repair the affected area. For examples, minor damages will not require as much effort as corner curling or cupping. In certain cases where the job requires no expertise, the repair process can be done by any individual with no prior experience in similar works. However, in other cases, when the wooden flooring has suffered a major damage, it’s advisable to call for a professional help.

First of all, it’s quite important to always watch out and prevent any sort of damages as this is way better than spending time trying to have the damaged surface repaired. One of the ways to prevent damages is by always lifting furniture rather than just dragging it across the floor when you need to move it. However, accidents are always meant to happen. In the case of damaged wooden flooring, here are some repair solutions.

When there are small scratches on your flooring, simply add a new coating of sealer to your floor (if the floor has already been oiled, just add another layer of oil). For lacquered floors, make use of a lacquer repair pen to help get rid of the scratches. In addition, there are some DIY shops offering wax filler sticks which can be used to hide or remove both light and medium scratches on wooden flooring.
