Tayport
Tayport, additionally called Ferry-Port on Craig, is a community and burgh, and parish, in the county of Fife, Scotland, working as a traveler community for Dundee. The adage of the Burgh is Te oportet alte ferri ("It is incumbent on you to bring yourself high"), a pun on Tayport at auld Tay Ferry. Tayport lies close to the north eastern pointer of Fife. To the north it looks throughout the River Tay to Broughty Ferry as well as Broughty Castle. To the east is the large Tentsmuir Nature Reserve, an area of forested dunes measuring some 3 kilometres from eastern to west and 6 km from north to south as well as bordered by broad sands that continue right round to the mouth of the River Eden. The civil parish of Ferry-Port on Craig has a population of 3,815 (in 2011).
