Sturminster Newton
Sturminster Newton is a town as well as civil parish in the Blackmore Vale location of Dorset, England. It is positioned on a low limestone ridge in a meander of the River Stour. The town goes to the centre of a huge dairy products farming region, around which the community's economic climate is built. The larger part of the town (Sturminster) lies on the north side of the river, and consists of most stores and services, whilst to the south is the smaller sized Newton. Between these 2 areas is a broad flood plain. The community was the house of poet as well as author William Barnes, and, for part of his life, Thomas Hardy.
