Newton Stewart
Newton Stewart is a previous burgh town in the historic region of Wigtownshire in Dumfries as well as Galloway, southwest Scotland. The community is on the River Cree with the majority of the town to the west of the river, and is often referred to as the "Gateway to the Galloway Hills". The primary local industries are farming, forestry and tourist. The community hosts a regional market, and a variety of services to sustain the farming market. There are several hill cycling trails in the area. Newton Stewart lies on the southern edge of the Galloway Forest Park, which provides several tasks to the town. Newton Stewart FC, nicknamed the "Creesiders" play in the South of Scotland league, their ground is called Blairmount Park.
