Dunmow
Great Dunmow is a historic market town and also civil parish in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. It is located on the north of the A120 road, about midway between Bishop's Stortford as well as Braintree, 6 miles east of London Stansted Airport. Originally the site of a Roman negotiation on Stane Street, the town thrived during the Middle Ages. Several structures make it through from this period, including a sixteenth-century city center. Dunmow suggests "Meadow on capital". [4] The settlement was variously described as Dunmow Magna, Much Dunmow, or the majority of generally Great Dunmow. Great Dunmow borders the former estate of Easton Lodge in the adjoining parish of Little Easton, a lodge belonging to the Maynard family members. The most notable member, Frances Maynard, ended up being the Countess of Warwick and also later on a mistress of King Edward VII. As the Prince of Wales he was reportedly a routine visitor to the Estate, taking a trip from London on the train to Easton Lodge train station. The initials "CW" show up on a number of Victorian era residential properties in Great Dunmow. Called Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick she was a charitable benefactor in the neighborhood area. Since 2018, Robert Nicholson is Emeritus Mayor of Great Dunmow.
