Caersws
Caersws is a town and also community on the River Severn, in the Welsh area of Powys (Montgomeryshire) 5 miles (8 kilometres) west of Newtown, and midway in between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury. It has a station on the Cambrian Line from Aberystwyth to Shrewsbury. At the 2001 census it had a population of 1,526, boosting a little to 1,586 at the 2011 Census. In modern Welsh, Caersws essentially implies "Fort Kiss", although sws probably stems from some other source. It has actually been said that the site may retain a Roman-era dedication to Zeus or maintain the name of a conjectured British queen Swswen.
