Burgess Hill is a civil parish as well as a town primarily found in the Mid Sussex district of West Sussex, England, towards the boundary with East Sussex, around the side of the South Downs National Park. Situated 62 km (39 mi) south of London, 16 km (9.9 mi) north of Brighton and Hove, and 47 km (29 mi) east-northeast from the county town of Chichester, it occupies a space of 9.47 km2 (3.66 sq mi) coupled with a population of 28,803 during the time of the 2001 Census, which makes it the most populous parish in the district. Other nearby towns include Haywards Heath to the north east and Lewes, the county town of East Sussex, to the south east.
