Faringdon is a historical market town in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, England. Within the historic limits of Berkshire, it is 18 miles (29 kilometres) south-west of Oxford, 10 miles (16 km) north-west of Wantage as well as 12 miles (19 km) east-north-east of Swindon. It is a big church, its lowest parts encompassing the River Thames in the north and also its greatest ground getting to the Ridgeway in the south. Faringdon was the western town in Berkshire until the 1974 limit adjustments transferred it to Oxfordshire. The civil church is officially Excellent Faringdon to distinguish it from Little Faringdon in West Oxfordshire. The 2011 Census offered a population of 7,121. On 1 February 2004, Faringdon was provided Fairtrade Town status, as the initial Fairtrade Town in South East England. It is the base for Faringdon Enterprise Gateway, which helps and recommends services in rural west Oxfordshire.
