Lairg
Lairg is a village as well as parish in Sutherland, Scotland. It has a population of 891 as well as goes to the south-eastern end of Loch Shin. Lairg is uncommon in the northern Highlands, if not distinct, in being a large settlement that is not on the coastline. One of the reasons that Lairg is a little larger than other non-coastal Highland villages is its main area within the region of Sutherland. Having four roads which satisfy in the village, it used to be called "The Crossroads of the North". In the 19th century, it was offered with a train station, on what is now the Far North Line. This advancement indicates that the north-west of Sutherland is currently much easier to reach. (The Far North Line links Inverness in the south with Thurso and Wick in the north.).
