Brampton
Brampton (population 4,627) is a tiny market community, civil church and also selecting ward within the City of Carlisle area of Cumbria, England, about 9 miles (14 km) east of Carlisle and 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Hadrian's Wall. Historically part of Cumberland, it is located off the A69 road which bypasses it. Brampton train station, on the Newcastle as well as Carlisle Railway, is about a mile outside the town, near the district of Milton. St Martin's Church is popular as the only church developed by the Pre-Raphaelite engineer Philip Webb, and also contains among the most beautiful collections of tarnished glass windows created by Sir Edward Burne-Jones, as well as performed in the William Morris studio.
