Bamburgh
Bamburgh is a village as well as civil parish on the shore of Northumberland, England. It had a population of 454 in 2001, reducing to 414 at the 2011 census. The village is notable for the close-by Bamburgh Castle, a castle which was the seat of the previous Kings of Northumbria, and for its association with the Victorian era heroine Elegance Beloved, who is buried there. The comprehensive beach by the town was awarded the Blue Flag rural coastline award in 2005. The Bamburgh Dunes, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, support the beach. Bamburgh is popular with holidaymakers as well as is within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An electoral ward of the same name exists. This ward includes Belford and likewise stretches southern to Ellingham with a complete population taken at the 2011 census of 4,846.
