Strathaven
Strathaven is a historic market town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland and is the largest negotiation in Avondale. The community was provided a Royal Charter in 1450, making the Town of Strathaven a burgh of barony. The current approximated population is 7,500. The community is located on the edge of the strath of the Avon Water, around 6 miles (10 km) from Hamilton and also 18 miles (29 km) from Glasgow. The A71, which connects Edinburgh and Kilmarnock passes through the town. In the 2001 census the community had a population of 7,700. Strathaven has one senior high school and 3 primary schools - Kirklandpark Primary, Wester Overton Primary, and also St Patrick's Primary. It also has a turf landing field regarding 2 miles (3 kilometres) to the north west on Lethame Road.
